Peachtree Podiatry Group physicians, Dr. Alan Banks and Dr. John Ruch, are each accomplished surgeons and teachers in the field of foot and ankle medicine and surgery. They have served the community of metro Atlanta and beyond from their location in Tucker, Georgia for over 30 years. Dr. McGlamry retired from the group in the 1990’s.

Dr. Banks is a recognized authority on foot and ankle surgery and receives referrals from across the United States for evaluation and treatment of the most complex problems. He has lectured extensively in the United States and Europe and published over two dozen chapters for medical textbooks, as well as, articles for medical journals. He was chief editor of the third edition of McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery, the standard reference text in the podiatric profession. He has served as an editorial advisor to the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and is currently a member of the manuscript review panel of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Banks is current director of the residency program at DeKalb Medical Center, previously serving as residency director at Northlake Medical Center from 1989 until 2006. He is a faculty member of the Podiatry Institute, an internationally recognized foundation for reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Ruch is recognized for his advanced surgical skills in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle and his years of devotion to education. He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award by the American Podiatric Medical Association and been recognized by his colleagues as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Podiatry Management in 1999.
Dr. Ruch has authored numerous medical articles on reconstructive surgery and been a major contributor to McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery, recognized as one of the primary texts for foot and ankle surgery throughout the world. He has produced many teaching films and videos demonstrating advanced surgical techniques for the foot and ankle. Dr. Ruch has served as a teacher, educator, lecturer and course chairman in hundreds of continuing education courses throughout the United States and Europe.
Village Podiatry Centers started in July 1992 as the solo practice of Dr. David Helfman. As of September 2007, it is the largest foot and ankle group in Georgia with 23 podiatric surgeons in 19 locations and more than 100 support staff.
