Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

What is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)?

The vein specialist inserts a small catheter into the diseased vein through a small incision, ultrasound guidance is used for precision. Uniform and consistent heat is delivered to contract the collagen in the vein walls, which causes them to collapse and close. When the treated vein is closed there is a gradual absorption into surrounding tissues. Blood flow is rerouted to healthy veins and circulation is improved.
