Foot Wound Prevention

Wound Prevention

The best wound treatment is to reduce your risk of developing an ulcer in the first place. Village Podiatry believes wound care starts with comprehensive prevention. Our wound specialists will assess your current risk criteria and create a treatment plan to address your needs. We will schedule regular appointments for you as a proactive defense against major problems.

What can you do to prevent wounds?

  • Eliminating or decreasing risk factors such as smoking, drinking alcohol, elevated glucose levels, and high cholesterol are important steps to preventing wounds.
  • Always protect your feet by wearing appropriate socks and shoes. If you do not know which ones are best for you, our providers will be glad to provide recommendations.
  • Before putting on footwear, take a little time to inspect the insides of your shoes and ensure there are not any small objects that could potentially cause damage.
