ATLANTA, GA (December 10, 2012) Barron Elleby, DPM, a podiatric physician and surgeon with Village Podiatry Centers, has been named a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS), joining an elite group of physicians. The ACFAS reserves fellow membership status for foot and ankle surgeons who earn board certification from the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS). Dr. Elleby was recently certified in foot surgery.
Dr. Elleby’s path to board certification and ACFAS fellow membership began during his undergraduate studies at Florida State University. He was then accepted to the Barry University School of Graduate Medical Services, Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Program, in Miami Shores, Florida. After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Elleby completed a three-year surgical at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He became board qualified after passing ABPS’ rigorous written examination and met the requirements for ACFAS associate membership. The process to become board certified can take as long as seven years. After the certifying board’s detailed review of his surgical cases, Dr. Elleby sat for and passed the oral examinations and achieved board certification in foot surgery.
AFACS members are uniquely qualified to detect early stages of diseases that exhibit warning signs in the lower extremities, such as diabetes, arthritis and cardiovascular disease, and they manage foot conditions which may pose an ongoing threat to an individual’s overall health.
Dr. Elleby treats all types of foot and ankle conditions and sees patients at Village Podiatry Centers’ Austell office located at 3825 Medical Park Drive, Suite 200. Appointments may be scheduled by calling (770) 771-6991.
